Flag basics / FLAG GUIDE

What Are the Most Common Flag Sizes and Dimensions?

There is no single standard flag size that fits every commercial display. A desk flag, a company forecourt flag and a shaped event flag answer different needs. Even a product described by an overall height may include the pole and base rather than just the cloth. To avoid mistakes, specify finished fabric dimensions, orientation and support details separately, with units written clearly.

Measure the part you are ordering

For a rectangular flag, record the finished height and width and identify the hoist side. State the units instead of writing an unexplained pair of numbers. For an existing display, measure the cloth or use a reliable drawing; a photograph viewed in perspective is not a dependable scale. Keep pole height, base dimensions and flag dimensions in separate fields.

Use proportion as a design tool

A broad logo may suit a horizontal format, while a tall shaped display may need a revised arrangement. Avoid stretching the logo to fill an unfamiliar ratio. Leave breathing room around the emblem and the required seam or sleeve areas. If several sizes are needed, check each layout rather than assuming a single master will reduce cleanly to every product.

Check viewing distance and movement

Imagine the audience standing where the flag will actually be seen. Very small wording can disappear when the fabric folds, even when it looks clear on a monitor. Make a scaled paper proof or temporary layout to compare the emblem and lettering at realistic distance. A larger cloth is not automatically better if the location, support or available space cannot accommodate it.

Respect the support specification

The pole or frame should determine permitted graphic dimensions and construction. A shaped replacement needs the correct outline, sleeve and tension arrangement for its model. Do not fit an oversized cloth to an unknown support because the attachment appears to connect. Where the assembly is exposed to wind, ask a competent installer to confirm the complete system and its operating limits.

Build a clear size schedule

For multiple products, prepare a table with each SKU, finished cloth size, orientation, quantity, frame reference and artwork version. Include a photograph of the proposed location and note doors, routes or other clearances that matter. Send this information to Orient Uniforms FZE for a quotation. Confirm any manufacturing tolerances and the dimensions to be checked at sample approval before committing the order.

Questions & answers

Are advertised feather-flag heights always fabric heights?

No. Some descriptions refer to the complete assembly. Ask for both graphic dimensions and overall installed height.

Can I order a nonstandard size?

Provide the measurements and intended mounting. Feasibility, layout, fabric and hardware need confirmation in the quotation.
